Chapter Eleven: A Bombshell of an Evening

I wanted her so much. Everything about her turned me on. Her throaty sounding laugh, her confidence, her cunning mind, her body… even the way she moved just did it for me. She had one hell of a trauma last week, so I’d been trying to give her space, but this evening shattered my control.

The woman was smart, savvy, and sexy. What more could a guy ask for?

When she revealed to me what happened on the night of our supposed date, I realized she was also braver and stronger than most people I knew. A true survivor. She’d faced her challenges head on and emerged victorious.

Which was why her moment of vulnerability had knocked me for a loop. She’d bared her soul to me and in return, I found myself telling her things I’d never revealed to anyone, not even my brothers. Even though we weren’t physically intimate, I felt closer to her that evening than anyone I’d ever been with.

I had nothing to do with the prank sending her to the park that night which led to her assault, but I still felt partly responsible. I could have treated her better.

My guilt dictated that I needed to give her time and distance.

But I couldn’t wait anymore.

Though she initially froze when our lips met, she gave in after a few seconds and threw her arms around my neck, kissing me back with a fervor that set my body on fire.

“I want to make love to you, Eva,” I whispered, stroking her face.

She gazed into my eyes, her gray ones searching mine. Slowly, she nodded. “I just want you to know… I’ve never had sex before.”

I felt surprised. How could such a beautiful, sexy woman remain single and untouched for so long? “I’ll take care of you.” I pushed her hair out of her face and tucked it behind her ear. “Thank you for trusting me with this gift.”

Rolling her eyes, she slapped my upper arm. “Don’t be so melodramatic. It’s no big deal.”

“Isn’t it?” I reached behind her and opened the door to my bedroom, advancing toward her like a predator as she walked backward to avoid me. I took one more step forward, leading her straight to my bed.

The backs of her thighs hit the mattress and she fell over, landing on her back.

I joined her on the bed, swooping down to capture her mouth with my own.

Her sweet, sweet mouth.

As she lay on the bed watching me, I unbuttoned my shirt halfway before pulling it over my head.

Her gray eyes seemed glued to mine, as if she couldn’t look away, trapped in a snare like a helpless rabbit. Her tongue darted out to moisten her lips.

The front of my dress pants tightened. Something about this woman entranced me. She could be tough as nails one moment, yet as vulnerable as a wide-eyed fawn in the next. This was her charm.

She pushed herself up until she was sitting and unbuttoned her blouse, keeping her gaze on mine, revealing perky, larger-than-average breasts restrained by a black lace bra.
